Position: Software Tester Location: Whitley Bridge, Yorkshire Job Type: Full time, permanent Salary: £Competitive Responsibilities: - Implementing existing test plans for developed software - Providing input for software test plans - Designing test cases for test plans - Reviewing software test cases and checking of same - Monitoring standards set by software testing authorities - Performing manual testing on functionality of software - Reporting defects and problems that occurred during the test process - Performing regression test duties - Using a tracking system to track reported problems with software - Preparing software test evaluation reports - Implementing and participating in walkthroughs of software - Contributing to planning, retrospective, daily and ad hoc meetings as required Essential skills: - Degree in a software engineering or related discipline or equivalent level of education and/or demonstrable experience in a similar role - Knowledge of modern test methodologies and good analytical skills. - Knowledge of SDLC and the ability to contribute to all aspects of the development lifecycle (with test focus) - Proven problem solving skills. - Experienced in agile software development - Knowledge of testing approaches and techniques - Basic understanding of test automation principles/techniques - Knowledge in concepts of databases and basic knowledge of SQL - Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written, are essential. A large part of the role involves accurate and thorough communication of concepts, requirements and solutions. Tester must be able to understand decisions made, questioning appropriately.
