The Role We are looking for a Specifications Technologist for a permanent role, starting as soon as possible. The Specifications Technologist is responsible for collecting, updating, inputting, challenging and maintaining the technical information on specifications and artwork (both in house and retailer) to meet all legal and customer requirements. The Specifications Technologist will also ensure each product formulation has an approved and finalised company format product specification. You will be confident in writing specifications for the major retailers. You will be using all retailer systems; ASDA HIVE, Tesco's Technical Library, Aldi Prestige, M&S FIND, Co-op My core, JS Inspire, Hamilton Grant and Morrison's Enterprise. You will be given training on the systems you may not have had exposure to. Location: This role can be based out of our St Albans Head Office, or our LLantarnam, Edinburgh or Blackpool factories. Typical Day - Complete all technical information requested by our customers to ensure legal compliance, on internal and external systems. - Generate and check pack copy specifications and sign off all artworks to ensure legal compliance and adherence to customer policies within specified timeframes. - Check nutritional data for compliance. - Handle queries for both internal and external customers e.g. on ingredient composition. - Complete the relevant internal trackers for specification control. - Support any customer audits. - Obtain ingredient, audit and regulatory certificates as required and supply to Customers and Export authorities when necessary - Ad hoc work requested by your Line Manager and site Technical Manager. About You The successful candidate will have/be: ·A degree or equivalent experience in a food-related subject and knowledge of food labelling and legislation would be an advantage (including international law) ·Solid knowledge and experience of working with retailer specifications and databases (e.g. ASDA, TTL, Inspire etc) and what is required for a Gold Standard (minimum 1 year experience). ·Good understanding of company manufacturing capabilities, products, process flows and HACCP systems. ·Experience of Hamilton-Grant database is desirable. ·Experience of allergen control is desirable. ·High level of computer literacy - Microsoft Excel/Word and Internet/SAP. ·Must be extremely organised, with exceptional communication skills. ·Drive, energy and enthusiasm - a good self-starter. ·Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. ·Methodical approach with good prioritization skills, the ability to work to short deadlines. ·Excellent attention to detail. ·Excellent time management.
