The GIS team works across Arcadis' UK business providing support to the Utilities, Highways, Rail; and Energy and Environment sectors. Overview of Role: Reporting to the South-East GIS lead, your primary role will be to co-ordinate GIS delivery on some of our major projects. This will involve working from London based project offices. You will interface with staff from other disciplines to understand their GIS requirements and deliver these through working with other members of the GIS team. This is a senior grade role and as such you will provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff working on the project. You will assist in the delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Arcadis' services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan and to build networks within the industry. Your Day-to-Day: * Delivering and managing GIS work on UK projects * Preparing and coordinating work for GIS staff based in the UK and overseas (travel not required) * Liaising with internal and external clients * Providing GIS technical mentoring to junior GIS staff * Undertaking GIS mapping, analysis, data capture, data management and geoprocessing * Extraction and formatting of AutoCAD data into GIS formats * Preparation of GIS reports * Undertaking presentations on GIS * Managing GIS project budgets * Analysing and developing databases * Analysing data in Excel * Working with the GIS team to deliver GIS deliverables to tight deadlines * Undertaking quality control of GIS work undertaken by other GIS staff * Contributing to the technical development of the GIS team through sharing ideas and innovations * Occasional travel to other offices for business development and project meetings * Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Arcadis Minimum Academic Qualifications & Certification: * A Master's degree in GIS and/or suitable experience. Essential Experience: * Demonstrable post-graduation in a similar position * ESRI ArcGIS 10.1 or above * Microsoft Access and Excel * Some previous GIS project management experience * Some experience of preparing content for bids and proposals * Experience of preparing content for bids and proposals * Experience of promoting GIS internally and externally via presentations and networking * Customer focussed approach to quality and service * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to identify innovative solutions to problems * Well motivated and team focussed with an ability to work without supervision and act on own initiative * Understanding of relational databases and database design * Understanding of core principles of GIS and GI data management * Well motivated and able to work to tight deadlines * Desire to work within a consultancy environment applying GIS to environment, geoscience and infrastructure projects * ESRI ArcGIS Online * Knowledge of UK GIS datasets * Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) * Experience of mentoring junior staff Desirable Experience: * Experience of working within geotechnical and environmental disciplines in the Highways, Aviation or Rail sectors. * Experience of programming in either Python, SQL or VBA * Exposure to ESRI Model Builder * ArcGIS Server, Portal and ArcSDE * ArcGIS Online * ArcGIS Mobile or ESRI Collector App, PostgreSQL/PostGIS * QGIS * FME * Open Source GIS tools such as GDAL * Building Information Modelling (BIM) Why ARCADIS: Arcadis is the leading global Design & Consultancy firm for natural and built assets.
