Please note, this is an unpaid volunteering role Creating Better Futures (CBF) is a small Christian charity that helps orphans, vulnerable children and their community in Zimbabwe, Africa. Our main activities are: - Providing access to and resources for education at rural primary and secondary schools. - Running Feeding and Welfare Programs in schools. - Projects and initiatives to empower children, schools and communities to fight poverty. About Volunteering Role: We currently seeking a self-motivated, energetic and resourceful volunteer Trust and Corporate Fundraiser to enable us to plan ahead and ensure continuity of support for the children that our charity helps in Africa. Purpose of the Role: As a volunteer Trust and Corporate Fundraiser, you will play a key role within CBF to champion the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. You will work closely with other volunteering teams in the UK and Zimbabwe. What activities will/could I be involved in? · Create and implement a targeted, strategic programme of trusts and grant applications · Research, screen and short-list grant making sources and prepare bids accordingly · Write tailored funding applications. · Identify and build relationships with new trusts, grant-makers and statutory bodies · Create opportunities to meet with funders on a regular basis and make presentations and face to face asks when required. · For grants awarded, process grant agreements and ensure proper tracking and reporting · Work with CEO and trustees to agree and deliver cultivation plans for major trusts and grant-makers. · Submit timely stewardship reports to funders. · Maintain detailed records of funders including database updates. · Maintain appropriate subscriptions to research databases. · Attend events to network and expand pool of potential foundation and trust donors. What skills and abilities will I need to have? - Experience working in a trust and grants fundraising role with the demonstrable ability to lead on funding applications. - Strong numerical skills with proven ability to work with complex budgets and monitor and report on grants - Good professional relationships building skills with confidence to approach all levels in a personable and diplomatic manner - IT literate with knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets, database management and web based technologies - Understanding of fundraising standards and ethics - 'Can do' attitude and good team player - Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and achieve objectives - Experience of fundraising from individuals or communities would be desirable. - Experience in international development would be desirable. - Good communication skills: written and oral English. - Interested in developing your skills in the charity sector. How much time should I offer? Flexible time commitment depending on what suits you but you will need to be ideally interested in taking on the role for at least 6 months, for a few hours a week. Is there an induction and training? Information pack and induction is provided to help familiarise you with the work of the charity and the volunteering team. Online training resources and mentoring is available. What ongoing support/guidance will there be? - You will be supported by your manager and other team members - Opportunities to meet and network with staff and fellow volunteers - Regular updates about CBF's work, campaigns, events and volunteering developments. Where will I be based? Our Office is located in First Floor, Unit 4, Beacontree Plaza, Gillette Way, Reading, Berkshire RG2 0BS. Will I need my own transport? Not necessarily but access to vehicle/good transport links would be an advantage. Our offices are close to bus stops. There is a car park onsite and parking is subject to availability.
