Learning Support Assistant | Behaviour Specialist - PRU | Darwen Are you a positive and dedicated Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and helping them to overcome barriers they face within education? This challenging yet rewarding opportunity has arisen for an LSA with a Pupil Referral Unit in Darwen. The role is to start as soon as possible and will continue until the end of the summer term and possibly longer. This Learning Support Assistant position will involve supporting a Key stage 3 student with additional needs on a one to one basis, encouraging the pupil to engage in a variety of lessons and activities. To be successful you will need a flexible approach and the ability to deal with challenging behaviour whilst maintaining calm is essential. Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is also desirable. This Ofsted graded 'good' Pupil Referral Unit caters for students aged 11 to 16 that are unable to access mainstream school or those that have been excluded. Pupils come from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of needs including Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD). Their main aim is to integrate students back into mainstream education while offering access to a bespoke curriculum tailored to suit the needs of individuals.
